When looking for wedding venues to get married in I came across Myddfai Community Hall near Llandovery. After deciding I (Gary) would get married at Myddfai Community Hall we agreed to attend a wedding fayre there, to promote our photography. When myself and my now wife, Michelle, were shown around we were constantly reminded of a big wedding coming the following year. A couple from Australia. “Doctors they are!” Myddfai is a beautiful old village near Llandovery where everyone knows everyone. Dave and Ashleys impending wedding was the talk of the town. Geraint and I attended the wedding fayre and Daves sister had come along to get some information on suppliers as Dave and Ashley were still in Australia working. She took our details and we were booked.
It was to be a big wedding, starting with bridal preparations photos at Cynghordy Stables where the bridal party was getting ready. Ashley was presented with handmade woollen characters of her and Dave. Already starting to get emotional this inevitably set her off. \once ready we moved onto continue the wedding photography in Capel Sion. This beautiful 16th-century chapel was surprisingly big enough to accommodate the 200 guests invited from all around.
Myddfai Community Hall was a stone throw away and after the ceremony, the guests walked from the Capel Sion to the reception at the hall for welcome drinks and canapes. Ger and I, as we always do, had made a visit to the village of Myddfai the previous week on a reconnaissance mission to find good photo locations. Also, a local from the village (it seemed like they all also showed up to see the married couple) had agreed to let us photograph in their award-winning garden nearby.
